Masonry chisel and a 2 lb. Work the chisel between the tiles and the concrete hammering them up with a 2 lb. Step 1 chiseling up tiles first things first you need to work the chisel that connects the tiles and concrete. To get dried thinset off the top of your tiles scrub away as much of it as you can with warm soapy water and a sponge.

Before you remove the mesh and mortar of a mud wall you must first deal with the tile. Start at a broken tile or between tiles where the grout has loosened. Once those tiles loosen pry them off. Chip the grout along the grout lines use a ball peen or masonry hammer and cold chisel to tap the pieces free.

This approach should let you save more of your tiles for reuse unless the tiles are unusually well adhered or a relatively recent installation. Strike the face of stubborn tiles to break them up for easier removal.

Ceramic porcelain marble and mosaic tiles for walls and floors can be removed by hand with the aid of a chisel and small 2 lb sledgehammer for instance but this can be a tiring job and doing it this way is time consuming and very hard work. These pieces should break off fairly easy. Removing tile from concrete will require you to use your strength to the fullest because you have to knock the tiles out instead of them coming out without any real force. Chisel tiles away from the wall. A wide blade putty knife is helpful in prying the tiles loose.

In some cases the only way to tear out the ceramic tile is with heavy equipment such as a jackhammer or air chisel. Tiles installed with thinset or another tile adhesive often require more work to remove them. Use a 3 4 or 1 in. If the walls were covered with a latex waterproofing the tile will be much easier to remove and should pop.
